Following your lead:

Define "Release Engineering".

Do you see End Users as a Software Quality Assurance department?

Has anyone ever asked you how long it would take to implement a feature, and given you time to figure out the answer?

When's the last time you talked to an end user, and watched them use what you've written? Did you take away all items from the user before you watched? Did you have body armor and a helmet?
